  • Two killed, five injured in horrific Centurion taxi collision

    Two people were killed, one airlifted while many others were injured in a taxi and truck collision on the R55 in Centurion, Gauteng. 

    The accident reportedly happened on Sunday night, 16 October 2022. 

    TWO DEAD IN TAXI AND TRUCK COLLISION 

    According to emergency service, Emer-G-Med, around 19:30 paramedics responded to the scene of a collision involving a minibus taxi on the R55 in the Centurion area

    Spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen said reports from the scene were that a minibus taxi crashed into the back of a heavy duty truck.

    Van Reenen said five commuters from the taxi sustained critical injuries and were treated and stabilised on scene by Emergency Care Practitioners before being taken by ambulances to nearby hospitals for further care, with one of them, a female being airlifted to a specialist facility for further definitive care.

    “Two occupants of the minibus suffered fatal injuries and were declared dead on arrival of paramedics.”

    SCORES INJURED AFTER VEHICLE ROLLS OVER

    In a separate incident also in Gauteng, sixteen people were injured when their mini bus taxi rolled on the R59 near the Redding Interchange in Alberton on Friday, 14 October.

    ER24 and other services reportedly arrived at 17:48 to find the taxi in the emergency lane. Several people were seen seated along the roadside.

    “Medics assessed the patients and found that sixteen people had sustained minor to serious injuries. Fortunately, no fatalities were found.
    The patients were treated, and the seriously injured were provided pain-relief medication before being transported to nearby hospitals for urgent care. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigation.”
