    Dis-Chem has withdrawn an internal memo and said it regretted offending staff and customers. It said it was committed to transformation.

    Meanwhile, the Minister of Social Development Lindiwe Zulu, said over half a billion rand had been looted from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) over the past decade.

    In other news, the German police said one of its canine members was bitten on Friday, 14 October, while its handlers were attending to a drunken dispute in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg.

Ntokozo Zikhali faces five charges, including acts of kidnapping, murder, rape, defeating the ends of justice, and violating a corpse.

    Dis-Chem withdraws moratorium on hiring of whites -‘ regrets its wording’

    Dis-Chem has withdrawn an internal memo that called for a moratorium on hiring white people.

    In a statement released by the pharmaceutical retailer late on Monday afternoon, it said it regretted offending staff and customers.

    It furthermore said it was committed to transformation.

    Over R500 million looted from SASSA in the past 10 years – SHOCKER

    Minister of Social Development Lindiwe Zulu says over half a billion rand has been looted from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) over the past decade.

    Zulu made the admission in response to a question posed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) Member of Parliament Bridget Masango.

    Zulu revealed that in the past 10 years, over R536 million was stolen by SASSA officials and even doctors.

    Weather warning: More thunderstorms for KZN on Tuesday

    The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued another Yellow Level 2 warning for thunderstorms in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Monday, 17 October.

    The weather warning is valid from 15:00 to 21:00 on Tuesday, 18 October. An upper-air trough is expected over the western parts of South Africa on Tuesday – this weather system will enhance the development of thunderstorms in KZN.

    Bokgabo Poo: Suspect ‘attacked’ by dad, as defence lawyer QUITS

    There was abject chaos in the courtroom on Monday, after the man accused of killing little Bokgabo Poo endured a nightmare start to his defence. Ntokozo Zikhali faces five charges, including acts of kidnapping, murder, rape, defeating the ends of justice, and violating a corpse.

    A day after Bokgabo disappeared, community members discovered a mutilated body in Tamboville, Johannesburg. Human toes sticking out of the ground led to the gruesome discovery of the little body of the missing Bokgabo last week. Ntokozo Zikhali was arrested over the weekend.

    German man bites police dog, woman punches officer in the face

    The German police said one of its canine members was bitten on Friday, 14 October, while its handlers were attending to a drunken dispute in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg.

    According to the Associated Press (AP), police officers were called to a scene where two 29-year-old men and a 35-year-old woman were embroiled in an argument shortly after midnight.

    The German police said the trio behaved in an “extremely aggressive and uncooperative” manner, in a statement.
