At approximately 7:40am on Thursday, 6 October 2022 a fire broke out within the kitchen of the coffee shop at Mediclinic Panorama. Emergency services were quickly on the scene, and the fire was brought under control with a minor flare-up after the initial fire.
“We can confirm that no patients were injured, while one staff member received minor injuries, and two were treated for smoke inhalation,” the statement read.

Lou Pistorius, a Perinatologist at Panorama Mediclinic reflected on the incident on Facebook.
She said: “Well done, everyone. Many things impressed me. The calm and efficiency with which this was approached, the good spirits and acceptance of everyone who was inconvenienced, and then the aftercare – there was still a smell of smoke in the air, and people were carting trolleys around to replace the used fire extinguishers, by this morning the ceiling close to the affected secondary fire already repaired and painted, the carpets washed; thank you for the grace that the fire did not get out of control”.
